Yes, they really will Axolotl, aquatic salamander They average in size about 20 centimeters Let's learn some more about this fascinating creature! Ever heard about the axolotl? They're a salamander living in water they don't have to waddle They can just swim where they wanna go The advantage of being amphibians, you know Their habitat is found in only one location The freshwater lakes in Mexico is where they're stationed And they don't really make friends, they're pretty solitary "Will you find them in groups?" Rarely And we gotta talk about the cool gills That surround their face and look like feathery frills The axolotl uses these gills to breathe It's underwater oxygen they're able to retrieve Axolotl, aquatic salamander Through freshwater lakes in Mexico they meander They have feathery frilly gills "Can they regrow their own body parts?" Yes they really will Axolotl, aquatic salamander They average in size about 20 centimeters They have a lifespan between 10 to 15 years "Can I say a few things?" Yeah! "Give me some beat here!" I'm an axolotl, yes I am And people like to compare me to Peter Pan 'Cause I don't wanna grow up, and start living on the land I don't wanna leave my aquatic phase, man! Scientists think I'm pretty amazing Because my body's capable of regenerating If I lose a body part, I can grow it back I can even regrow my own brain, in fact! Well thank you, Mr. Axolotl, that was very informative! Hey, don't mention it--by the way, you got any small fish or insect larvae I can snack on? Axolotl, aquatic salamander Through freshwater lakes in Mexico they meander They have feathery frilly gills "Can they regrow their own body parts?" Yes they really will Axolotl, aquatic salamander They average in size about 20 centimeters They have a lifespan between 10 to 15 years I think the song is complete here!
